Pete Yanity, Clemson University sports announcer and NewsChannel 7 sports director
Pete Yanity lives for two things: The first is his wonderful family, the second is sports.

Pete has been covering and anchoring sports for more than 20 years, and it's been both his hobby and passion all of his life.

And here at News Channel 7, the passion and the job become one and the same. Pete is the Sports Director and main anchor for the News Channel 7 Sports Team. He can be seen on News Channel 7 at 6:00, News Channel 7 at 11:00, and News Channel 7's News on 62 on WASV-TV weeknights at 10 p.m. He also writes a column for wspa.com and the Greer Citizen called Pete's Extra Point

During his extensive career at News Channel 7, Pete has covered and produced many specials including those featuring The Masters, Daytona 500, and The World Series. He also hosts and produces News Channel 7's popular High School Friday Night each fall.

And that's not all. In addition to his forty-hour work weeks managing our sports team and anchoring, Pete's exceptional talents have branched out to many different areas.

He's the radio play-by-play voice of the Clemson Tigers for football and men's basketball in addition to hosting the coaches' TV shows for those sports, roles he's handled since 2003.

He's served as the sideline reporter on the Carolina Panthers Pre-Season Television Network since 2001 and worked various televised games for CSS, a regional cable sports channel.

For 12 years, he was the host for Wofford College's football coach's TV show and was inducted into the Spartanburg school's Athletic Hall of Fame as an Honorary Letterman in 2002.

He was also named The South Carolina Sportscaster of the Year in 2004 by The National Association of Sportswriters and Sportscasters.

Yanity has also served as spokesman for News Channel 7's One for the Community campaign. He is the recipient of the 1998 James "Slick" Moore Award for Community Athletic Involvement.

A native of Ridgefield, Conn., Pete joined the News Channel 7 Sports Team in October 1990, after serving as the Sports Director at News Channel 7's sister station, WBTW TV-13 in Florence, S.C., where he had also worked asAssistant Sports Director and Weekend Sports Anchor. Between his two stints at WBTW, Pete was the Sports Director for WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, W. Va.

Last, but definitely not least, the most important thing in Pete's life is his family. He adores his beautiful wife Kelly, and enjoys the time they spend together raising their two adorable children: Paige, nine, and Trey, seven. Most of his time outside of work is spent with them, enjoying his life as a loving husband, father, and family man.
