Former Los Angeles Rams linebacker Jim Youngblood headlines this year's group of committed speakers for the Spartanburg Touchdown Club meetings.

The former all-pro linebacker, who played at Jonesville High School, will speak at noon on Nov. 11 at the Golden Corral on W.O. Ezell Boulevard in Spartanburg.

Youngblood played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins, including Super Bowl XIV in the Rams' 31-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

All meetings will be held at the same time each Friday beginning on Sept. 2.

Area high school coaches yet to be determined will speak at the first meeting, followed the next two weeks by Wofford coach Mike Ayers and former Clemson coach Danny Ford, respectively.

Other scheduled speakers this year include Furman coach Bruce Fowler (Sept. 23), former Clemson and NFL offensive lineman Jim Bundren (Sept. 30), WSPA sports director Pete Yanity (Oct. 7), South Carolina Sports Radio Network personality Phil Kornblut (Oct. 14), former Clemson quarterback Rodney Williams (Oct. 21) and former South Carolina quarterback Garry Harper (Oct. 28).

Three dates (Nov. 4, Nov. 18 and Nov. 25) have yet to be filled, but potential speakers include former Wofford quarterback Shawn Graves and former Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Donnie Shell.

The cost for each meeting will be $9 for members and $12 for non-members. For more information, contact Art Pettigrew at 864-680-4958.
